Kate Rusby’s exquisite interpretations of traditional songs and finely wrought self-penned tunes have won her an audience that reaches far beyond the folk genre.

If one man embodies the kaleidoscopic new musical world of the ‘user-generated’ age it is Ludovico Einaudi. Routinely topping audience polls from the classical to the avant-garde, Einaudi has not only become one of the UK’s most popular composers, but has rendered traditional ideas of musical genre and audience divide obsolete.

Einaudi’s music is ambient, meditative and often introspective. His sweeping compositions are deeply touching, and draw inspiration from classical and international music, minimalism, and contemporary pop, but always with the piano at the heart of the sound.

Recent years have seen Einaudi in a number of different contexts, from the use of music from his album Divenire in the soundtrack to Shane Meadows’ award winning film, This is England, to a performance on the Big Chill main stage with German electronic band To Rocco Rot.

Displaying his trademark humour in the selection of songs, Thompson takes you on a journey from the ballads of the Middle Ages to more modern songs by artists such as Nat King Cole, Nelly Furtado, Gilbert and Sullivan and The Who.

Treating each song as if it were his own, Thompson’s uncanny genius is evident in his astonishing guitar technique that sees him juggling simultaneous lead, rhythm, and bass parts on the same six strings. With accompaniment from Judith Owen and Debra Dobkin.

2005 brought the reintroduction, after a 13 year absence, of the North West Festival of Remembrance. After the resounding success of last year the show will be staged again in November at The Plaza in Stockport.  The concert will feature songs and big band numbers from the War periods and will include the standards and representatives from many of the Services that saw conflict.

Set the controls for the heart of the dub as Dub Syndicate pilot down their sonic mothership at Band on the World to spread deep vibes, big bass and outta space echo for the people. 
Probably the world's most famous and influential dub collective, Dub Syndicate have at one time or another featured pretty much every major dub and reggae star out there. From the genius production of founders On-U-Sound supremo Adrian Sherwood and former Roots Radics drummer Lincoln Valentine 'Style' Scott to artists such as Gregory Isaacs, Junior Reid and Big Youth their roll-call of contributors reads like a who's who of the scene. Expect a blistering late nighter of big sounds on the dancefloor from the masters of deep dub.

Just a few month’s before the release of hotly tipped album ‘Pure Blue Green’ Kirsty Almeida will be headlining a show at her native Manchester’s Band On The Wall.
An experimental craftswoman, Kirsty customises her own instruments and creates her own stage-wear, collaborating today with internationally renowned stylist Mrs Jones (Kylie’s white jump-suit, Brandon Flowers’ feathery epaulettes), and is currently working on a musical dress specifically for the forthcoming live shows.
For years, Kirsty has lived in a parallel dimension, making both music and a living on quietly productive sidelines; today, she runs a musical collective, Odbod, in her Manchester hometown (currently commissioned to record two tracks for the independent London film project ‘Patagonia’) while her name as a solo artist has turned from underground murmur to word-of-mouth phenomenon. In 2010, she just might be a pioneer.
